Telstar draws against Excelsior with two missed penalties | D. Bakker

Telstar and Excelsior played an exciting match on Saturday evening, which ended in a 2-2 draw. The match was exciting from the start, with chances for both teams.

What happened?

Telstar took the lead in the second minute, when Jochem Ritmeester van de Kamp scored from a low cross from Patrick Brouwer: 1-0. Telstar also dominated after that, with chances for Tyrone Owusu, Milan Zonneveld, and Brouwer.

How did the match go?

After a small half hour, it was 2-0, when Owusu scored after good work from Brouwer. Then Excelsior started to push more, with a header from Rick Meissen and a penalty from Arthur Zagré.

What were the highlights?

A quarter of an hour after the break, Telstar also got a penalty, after a foul by Meissen on Ritmeester van de Kamp. Danny Bakker shot the ball high over, and Excelsior also missed a penalty, when Zagré shot wide.

What are the consequences?

Eventually, it still worked out for the visitors, as Gyan de Regt scored a beautiful goal in the long corner: 2-2. In the final phase, both teams had good chances, but no more goals were scored.
