Ajax won 0-4 at Telstar in a preseason friendly on Tuesday. The Amsterdam side scored through Davy Klaassen, Steven Berghuis, Tolu Arokodare and Marcos Leonardo, as reported by Telegraaf.
How did the match unfold?
The first half was difficult for Ajax, who only took the lead in the 37th minute. Steven Berghuis took a corner and Davy Klaassen headed the ball home. Just before halftime, Julian Brandt had a goal disallowed for offside. After the break, Ajax took complete control. In the 56th minute, Berghuis doubled the score with a fine finish. Three minutes later, Tolu Arokodare made it 0-3. Substitute Marcos Leonardo added the 0-4 in the closing stages.
Telstar, led by new manager Henk Brugge, had one chance. After Jorthy Mokio lost possession, Rui Mendes shot just wide. Goalkeeper Koeman junior could not prevent the four goals. For Ajax, Marc ter Stegen was in goal.
What substitutions did Ajax make?
Coach Sanchez, Ajax's Spanish manager, made several changes in the second half. Youri Baas replaced Julian Brandt. Abdellah Ouazane came on for Davy Klaassen. Marcos Leonardo took the place of Oscar Gloukh, who had started as left winger. Oliver Edvardsen came on for Steven Berghuis. Ten minutes before the end, Jofre Torrents made his debut for Ajax.
This friendly gave Sanchez the chance to test his squad. Dies Janse played as left central defender. Oscar Gloukh started as left winger, but according to Telegraaf, Abdellah Ouazane performed better in that role during an earlier friendly against FC Sion.
What's happening in the transfer market?
The transfer window closes on Wednesday at 23:59 and Ajax remains active. Technical director Jordi Cruijff is looking for a deep left winger and a right-footed central defender, Telegraaf reports. Manager Sanchez confirmed this: "Yes, it is one hundred percent certain that a winger will come who gives us depth."
Ajax has already strengthened with Sofyan Amrabat. There is also outgoing movement. Copenhagen wants to loan Maher Carrizo. Werder Bremen has reached a verbal agreement on a loan deal for Youri Regeer. Porto made a bid for Youri Baas, but Ajax did not take it seriously.
Telstar also wants to strengthen. Technical manager Peter Hofstede says the club is looking for a striker and possibly other outside chances. Telstar's 2026 squad is listed on our squad page.
