Telstar will begin their KNVB Cup campaign with a home tie against Almere City. The draw for the first round paired the two Eerste Divisie sides for a match in the final weekend of October.
The first round is scheduled for October 27, 28, and 29. The exact date and kick-off time will be confirmed later. For Telstar, this is a chance to shift focus from the league, where the team currently sits 13th with five points from seven games. The cup match falls between the home league game against ADO Den Haag on October 11 and the next league round. Fans can view the full schedule.
Five amateur clubs from the province are also in the first round draw. Koninklijke HFC will host Go Ahead Eagles, a chance for revenge after a 4-1 extra-time defeat in 2023. Captain Marijn Ploem said he would like to get revenge on the Deventer side. RKAV Volendam plays at home against Rohda Raalte, Purmersteijn faces VV Gemert, and AFC Amsterdam travels to ACV in Assen.
JOS Watergraafsmeer is the only club from the fourth division and thus the lowest-ranked participant. They qualified via a penalty shootout against TEC Tiel, during which the lights went out at the final penalty. They will host NAC Breda. Top clubs like PSV, Ajax, and Feyenoord enter in later rounds due to European commitments.
The cup tournament runs until the final on April 18, 2027, at De Kuip. The reigning champion is AZ. For Telstar, the match against Almere City is the next cup assignment after the league game against 17th-placed ADO Den Haag.
