SC Telstar suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against FC Twente in a rescheduled Eredivisie match at De Grolsch Veste on Wednesday evening. The home side won thanks to a goal from Sondre Ørjasaeter, but had to contend with another impressive performance from Telstar goalkeeper Ronald Koeman junior.

The first big chance fell to FC Twente after just five minutes. A low cross from Sondre Ørjasaeter was saved by Telstar keeper Ronald Koeman junior. In the 35th minute, the home side came close to opening the scoring, but Younes Taha hit the post. Telstar had a golden opportunity just before halftime through a through ball from Marvin Peersman to Rui Mendes, but the attacker failed to beat Lars Unnerstall. The first half ended goalless.

The second half remained deadlocked for a long time. The breakthrough finally came late in the game. After 75 minutes, Sondre Ørjasaeter scored the opener for FC Twente. The Norwegian shot while falling and his effort deflected over the advancing Koeman junior. It was his first goal of the season. In the closing stages, Twente was awarded a penalty, but Wout Weghorst saw his spot-kick saved by Koeman junior. The goalkeeper, who scored twice in the Eredivisie last Sunday, could not prevent the loss.

Twente manager John van den Brom made several notable changes. Aske Adelgaard started at left-back, which pushed Ruud Nijstad into central defence. In attack, Daan Rots was preferred over Marko Pjaca. Robin Pröpper came on with fifteen minutes remaining. The team was looking to bounce back from a 2-2 draw with FC Groningen last Sunday and secure a win. The victory keeps Twente in the upper regions of the table.

The defeat means Telstar remains in 13th place in the Eredivisie with four points from four matches. Andries Jonker's team has one win, one draw, and two losses. Their goal difference stands at minus five, having scored five and conceded ten. They trail league leaders AZ Alkmaar by eleven points. Their recent form, is DLLW.

FC Twente plays at home against ADO Den Haag on Saturday at 16:30. For SC Telstar, the next match comes quickly. The team travels to the Abe Lenstra Stadion on Sunday for a clash with SC Heerenveen. Heerenveen currently sits 12th in the table. The full schedule for the coming weeks can be found on our fixtures page. The match against Heerenveen takes place on September 13, 2026.
